Get Outside
Spring is the perfect time to witness carnivorous plants like the native Venus flytrap, and seasonal flora and fauna bloom. Take in the scenic waterside views as you hike the nine trails throughout Carolina Beach State Park, two of which are wheelchair accessible. Bring your binoculars and search for migrating bird species during the park’s Monthly Bird Walk. Take the kids to Mike Chappell Park to ride the bowls, ramps and rails at the skate park and bring along your four-legged friends for playtime at the dog park. Rent bikes from Pleasure Island Rentals or Tony Silvagni Surf School and learn about the history of Carolina Beach and nearby Kure Beach on a self-guided history bicycle tour of the island. Or, opt for an e-bike rental from Coastal-EBike Company and view the Island Greenway’s scenic sites along the 1.2-mile paved path. Or, visit Putter Pub for 18-hole s of colorful miniature golf course fun featuring a full-bar, tournaments, live music and more.
